Privacy Policy

In short
Aquifera has no server, no account, no analytics and no advertising. Nothing you log is sent to the developer or to anyone else. Your data lives on your device and, if you turn iCloud on for the app, in your own iCloud account, where it is end-to-end encrypted and the developer cannot read it.
Who is responsible
Aquifera is made by Martin Rohr, an individual developer in Prague, Czechia. For anything about this policy or your data, write to mr@martinrohr.com.
What the app stores
- Drinks: the type of drink, its volume and the time, with a note if you add one. For a drink of your own, its name, alcohol, calories and caffeine, and the icon and colour you chose.
- Bottles: what is in the bottle you are drinking from, how much, and when you filled and finished it.
- Restroom visits: the type of visit, the time, and whether it woke you at night. In the Bladder & Bowel Diary, the details you choose to add: amount, colour, urgency, leaks or accidents, and a note.
- Photos: a photo of a visit, taken with the camera inside the app only when you choose to. The photo is made small and keeps nothing of where or how it was taken. It is stored with your other data, one per visit, and deleting the visit deletes it.
- Settings: what you follow (drinks, visits or both), the level of detail, units, language, your daily goal, your sleep window, the evening cutoff, reminder times, favourite drinks, bottle presets, and the days you chose to leave out of statistics.
- Your weight and activity level, if you enter them, are used only to suggest a daily goal. Your weight stays on the device and is never synced.
- Imported entries: when you bring in a diary from another app, the file you choose is read on your device and its entries become visits like any other. Nothing from the file is uploaded anywhere.
Where it is stored
On your device, and in your own iCloud account if iCloud is on for Aquifera, so your devices stay in step. Everything is encrypted on your device before it is uploaded, with keys that only your devices hold. The developer cannot read it. Turning iCloud off for Aquifera in the Settings app keeps everything on this device only. iCloud is Apple’s service and is covered by Apple’s privacy policy.
The widgets show the same data, read on your device.
Apple Health
Only if you connect Health. Aquifera reads your sleep times to tell which restroom visits woke you, and reads the water, caffeine, alcohol and calories other apps have logged, so your days and nights are complete. What it reads from Health stays on this device: it is never stored in iCloud, it is left out of device backups, and Health provides it again when it is needed.
Aquifera saves the drinks you log to Health: their water, and their caffeine, alcohol and calories, estimated from the drink’s type and volume. Health data is never used for anything else and is never shared with anyone.
Notifications
Reminders are scheduled on your device. Nothing is sent to a server to deliver them. If iCloud is on, Apple may wake the app silently so it can pick up changes made on your other devices; that is part of iCloud and carries nothing to the developer.
Reports and exports
PDF reports and CSV files are made on your device and go only where you send them with the share sheet. A report can contain everything in your diary, photos included if you choose, so treat it as you would the diary itself.
Deleting your data
Delete any entry in the app. Deleting the app removes everything stored on this device. To remove the iCloud copy, open the Settings app, tap your name, then iCloud, and delete Aquifera’s data from your iCloud storage.
When you write to the developer
If you email about the app, your message is kept for as long as it takes to answer and to follow up, and is shared with no one.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to see, correct, delete and take away your personal data. Because none of it reaches the developer, you exercise these rights in the app itself: everything you logged is there to read, edit, export and delete. For anything about an email you sent, write to mr@martinrohr.com. You also have the right to complain to the Czech data protection authority, the Office for Personal Data Protection (Úřad pro ochranu osobních údajů).
Changes
If the app changes what it stores or where, this policy changes with it, and so does the date at the top. The same policy is in the app, under About.
